Scarlett opened her eyes lazily, her vision was blank for a few seconds before she tried remembering the details of the room she was in. It was unfamiliar yet comfy. The scent of leather and luxury. A small grunt left her mouth as she touched her forehead. It was bandaged as she lay there, still trying to remember last night.
"You know very well how the world works. Just a little sexual favor. Just one night, and you can have everything normal once again."
Scarlett's eyes widen while her body jerks furiously as she sits down on the bed with a gasp. Kacey's cunning smirk crossed her mind as his filthy words rang in her ears. "Am I... Am I?" She tried to take a look around the room, only to find no one.
Did Kacey take advantage of me?
Her body jerked in disgust, and her heart thudded violently as she quickly got up from the bed to run. A small whimper left her mouth as her ankle strained, resulting in her crazily deranged posture, before a pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist.
A heavy sigh of relief left her mouth while she calmed her breaths before the realization suddenly hit her. Her head jerked to the side, only to find the pair of honey-amber eyes with those fiery rings settled on her.
"Mr. Walker?" His last name rolled out so feebly from her tongue that it almost felt like a curious whimper to him.
"You need to rest, Scarlett. You are not in a state of trying to figure out where you are while running around hastily." The corners of his lips curled in amusement. It was almost a new feeling for her to see his face from so close. His lips curled disdainfully into a smile. His honey-tanned skin, trimmed beard, straight nose, hollow cheeks, and prominent jawline almost made Scarlett swallow a thick gulp.
Gosh! He's handsome as hell!
The only thing that came into her brain before she was snapped back to reality was looking at him while he waited for her to continue. "Mr. Walker, I..." she tried to take another look around her surroundings, still in a state of perplexity.
"I think you should call Nancy first. She called last night, but you were sleeping." He untangled his arms from her waist and pulled them back. Taking a step back, he stood straight to face her as she did the same.
"I'll bring you something to eat till then," he said with a curt nod before closing the door, leaving Scarlett in a muddle as she watched his frame leave the room. Scarlett's eyes roamed around the room for a brief moment before resting near the night table, where she found her phone.
Marching towards the side of the table, she picked it up before finding Nancy's answered call from last night. As much as she remembers, she hasn't found herself talking to her since last evening. Then who? Probably him. Her mind quickly clicked before she called Nancy.
"Scar? OMG! How are you?" Nancy's voice filled her ears. The call was answered as soon as she put it in. A sigh of relief could be heard from Nancy's side once Scarlett answered her back.
"My god, I was so worried for you last night. You weren't answering. Someone answered for you saying you were sleeping and that you were fine. He said you know him and that you just overdrank and passed out. Gosh! Why do you do this, Scar? I was so worried." Nancy informed. Till now, Scarlett already had an idea about who it was. Noel might have noticed the worry in Nancy's voice, and probably that's why he didn't tell her the whole thing.
"Huh, I was just caught up in work. I'm so sorry. I will come back quickly. And don't worry, I am fine." Scarlett reassured. After a little while, she heard Nancy sigh. "Okay fine. I'm leaving for classes then," Nancy muttered. A smile made its way onto Scarlett's face once she heard the younger girl was relieved.
"All right, I'll see you later." With that, the girls hung up. Nancy sighed, staring at the screen of her phone, before finally putting it in her backpack and leaving for college.
Scarlett turned around only to find Noel standing at the side of the door with a tray filled with some fresh juice, slices of bread, and an omelet. "I just talked to Nancy," she says before stepping toward the side of the bed. She sat down as he placed the tray in front of her. "Hmm, I just saw," he replied, putting the glass on the side table.
"I brought you some breakfast. Eat it before taking the medicine. I'll ask Denise to change your bandage." For the very first time, Scarlett was able to find something else in his eyes.
Was it his concern?
"I... I was with Rohan."
"I told him to go home and get his wounds treated. He was a bit injured as well. Probably because of Kacey," Scarlett's eyes flickered as she stared at him with perplexity. It looked like he had something else to say, but he chose to stay silent.
"Um, Mr. Walker."
"Eat first, Scarlett. We can discuss these things later as well. You have to take the medicine." He suggested. Scarlett let out a curt nod before sitting on the side. She picked up the plate for the omelette. Noel brought her medicines to the table as she glanced at him.
"You need to take these medications, and I'll send Denise to change your bandage." He stood back after pouring water into a glass and placing it before her as she watched him in amusement.
"Actually, I have to leave for the office a bit soon." Scarlett looked up at him. Noel stared at her for a brief moment before he continued. "Are you sure?" He asked, making her sigh. "I have something important. Besides, I have also begun preparing for the Gala."
Scarlett finished her breakfast before Noel handed her the medicines and water. "Fine, I'll send Denise to change your bandage, and I'll ask her to provide you with new clothes." Scarlett nodded appreciably before Noel finally left.
Noel walked outside of the room to find Denise, which he did in the living room. He asked her to go and help Scarlett, as she needed him. Noel's eyes fell on a newly arrived figure in the room who seemed to ignore him completely as he walked towards his room.
"So you're finally back, huh?" Noel crossed his arms, leaning against the couch, as he thoroughly checked the young man's condition. Ruffled hair, dirty shoes, damaged leather, and a stained face. It looked as if he was badly drenched in the rain.
"Where were you for the whole night?" The younger kept watching him without any emotion as Noel walked towards him.
"Mr. Walker, I have changed Ms. Scarlett's bandage. I'll arrange fresh pairs of clothes for her." Denise approached, interrupting their eye contact. Noel withdrew his eyes from the younger before nodding at Denise, who then, left in approval. The younger raised his eyebrow before looking at Noel with utter interest.
"Got a chick to fuck? Finally huh," The guy smirked while Noel's jaw clenched and his eyes sharpened at him. "ALAN!!" The anger blew out of his voice, uncontrollably as the guy stood there, not budging.
"Control your words if you don't know anything," Noel's expression was stern as he glared at him.
The other guy scoffed, "I do not care who you bring here or what you do. And I ask you to do the same for me. I hope this isn't much to ask for, big brother," The guy said rigorously with a firm expression before leaving Noel alone. Noel's fists clenched tightly as he eyed his disappearing figure as the guy walked like nothing happened.
