Chapter 5: The club meet
•••
"One more, please," Scarlett put the empty glass of her vodka mixer back on the counter and ordered another one. The loud music
"Here's your vodka" The bartender gave her a wilful smirk before passing on the vodka in her direction. Scarlett wasn't in the mood to socialize or interact with anyone today.
Her mind and heart were in so much despair today. She couldn't think of having any fun when she was going through a crisis. Nothing in her life is fun anymore.
The only thing left was distress.
"Thanks" She passed the bartender a polite smile before grabbing her glass. The bartender stared at her for a pretty minute before finally tearing his eyes away from her. The girl felt too distressed tonight. He didn't want to make it harder for her and just left her the way she wanted to be.
Scarlett held the glass close to her lips before her eyes navigated through the people on the dance floor. The floor was filled with the crowd with people kissing, dancing and having fun. They looked happy and carefree while enjoying their moments together.
Scarlett roughly remembered her last relationship, it was a few years ago. Her ex-boyfriend was a pretty decent guy. He wasn't toxic but they were still young and pretty immature to cooperate in the relationships. Giving priority to their careers, they finally give up on the relationship and parted ways on good terms.
She heaved a shaky breath as those pretty memories of the past crossed her mind. They were beautiful, those moments were beautiful and she is always so grateful to God to experience that. Even if just a little bit of it. Those young and carefree days were like a nostalgic boost hitting her heart.
"Pretty ladies like you alone in the club don't fit well"
Scarlett's eyes flickered open as she took a moment to register the words in her head and... the voice.
How can she forget this voice though. At this point in her life, she has heard it multiple times if not countless times. This deep, rough and thick voice can belong to none other than... Noel Walker after all.
"Mr Walker?" His last name left her mouth before she could even realize that. Noel's side lips turned into a slight smirk. The expressions registered on his face were enough to convey the pleasure he had after listening to her sweet, velvet-like voice.
It wasn't amusement, it was satisfaction.
The satisfaction he gets every time he hears this voice. It's just intriguing. It rings like a melody to his ears. Making him helplessly wonder how would her moans feel to his ears-
Noel's eyes flared open with the dismay in their own at the filthy thought that he just got about the lady sitting on a stool in front of him. His eyes couldn't help but wander over her body.
He doesn't even know her completely. He only met her a few times but yet the lady sitting in front of him right was ruling his mind and his thoughts as if it were her right.
"What a fortunate night it is that I found you here" Noel rendered with a playful smile.
" I can say the same" Scarlett can't help but passed back a smile. A curt smile before sipping on her vodka. The bartender greeted before taking Noel's order for a scotch.
"So, What kind of forage are you on here?" Noel chuckled taking a place as the bartender left for his drink.
"Well, nothing much just some peace and serenity" Scarlett muttered fiddling with the glass. Noel read her movements thoroughly. It was easy to say she is quite tense and distressed.
"Well tell me about yourself" Scarlett shrugged off her negative thoughts before her galaxy eyes shifted on him. Her eyes were enough for him to skip a beat in his heart before he could even realize that.
"Well, same. Just on a hunt for some peace. Life's been a bit hectic lately" He let out a slight grunt remembering his dinner with Herbert.
Even though he has already given him words that he will find a way for all of the mess that has been created. But he was a bit uncertain about how to do this and overcome the chaos.
Just to escape from all of these bad thoughts for some time, he decided to drive to the Retros club in Williamsburg. Though till the last moment, he just thought of taking a U-turn and going home and taking sleep. But he didn't.
And now, it finally seems like he did the right thing by not going home tonight and driving to retros club instead.
"I did hear the news about the break-off of your engagement. I didn't get a chance to ask earlier just.." Scarlett nibbled her lower lip trying to suppress her words before they could escape her mouth completely. She was so surprised by the newfound courage she got to continue her conversation with the man she would least likely cross paths with.
But here she is, sitting beside him and having drinks.
"Uh well- it's been quite messed up." Noel let out a sigh before having his shot.
"Media are the liars. They mislead and twist the information most of the time for their benefit." Scarlett replied. Noel stared at her for a moment before he finally tore his gaze away from her.
It was quite difficult to shift the eyes away from her but he also can't stare at her for the whole time unless he wants himself to be interpreted as a creep by her.
"Still people love the tea, don't they?" He smirked in disbelief before having another sip of his scotch, a low growl of satisfaction left his mouth as the liquid penetrated through his gullet.
"It's ridiculous to take advantage of someone's personal matters" Scarlet muttered.
Noel's eyes fixed on her face without a single blink he kept staring at her for a long minute. His mind thoroughly read every feature of her as if trying to imprint them. The sight of her face was somehow soothing to him. It relaxed him.
"Well, you look quite distressed as well, Ms Adair. Mind telling me?" He examined. Scarlett tore her eyes away from him before looking anywhere but at him. The fiddling with the glass never stopped.
"Uhmm.. nothing serious. Just a bit of work load" She lied.
He was quick to detect that she lied. The way her eyes moved and the way her lips shivered. The way her fingers fiddled and the way she tucked her lower lip between her teeth. All of it conveyed that she is lying.
A part of him asked him to grab her chin and look deep into her galaxy eyes and ask her what was wrong but he didn't share a bond intimate enough to do that with her.
"If it's the reason. You're supposed to ease your mind. I think that's why we're in the club in the first place"
Scarlett let out a soft giggle before looking at him.
"I think you're right. I'm supposed to enjoy and ease myself. That's why I'm here. I'll actually go for a dance. I quite enjoy dancing and it helps me get relieved of stress" Scarlett chuckled before finishing her vodka mixer.
Getting off of her stool and standing to her four inches of heel added a good height to her five ft four inches figure. Noel couldn't help but keep his eyes glued to her frame.
The way she walked grabbing other men's attention on herself made him want to tower over them and throw merciless punches on their faces for ogling at her. But he composed himself as Scarlett passed the way to the dance floor.
She gave a sweet and playful smile to one of the guys on the dance floor who was dancing on his own. Scarlett could see how flabbergasted he was to see a girl this close to himself.
"Wanna dance together?" She offered making the guy smile in excitement.
"Absolutely. Would love to. How can I decline an offer from such a pretty lady" He replied playfully.
Scarlett smiled before the guy placed his hands on each side of her side of hips. Scarlett swayed her hips before the guy drew her closer, spinning her around in a slow movement before finally yanking her back to himself.
The distance between them slowly decreased before a hand pressed on the guy's shoulder. He stopped before looking back, a tall frame stood almost towering over his height.
Noel gives the guy a smile before glancing at Scarlett.
"Mind if I take her for the dance?" He asked as genuinely as he could. Even if he felt like breaking the guy's nose. He had to play politely in order to have Scarlett back from him without creating any drama.
"Oh, sure!" The guy didn't look pleased with Noel's interruption but didn't argue and silently step aside from them. Looking at Noel's physique he was quick to get the idea of not messing up with him.
Noel held Scarlett's hand tenderly in his rough ones. It was probably the first he touched her. The feeling of her soft skin rubbing through his rough flesh sent a strange satisfaction to his heart.
"You dance so well, Ms Adair" He whispered over her ear as the red blush crept through Scarlett's face. Noel guided her hand placing it on his shoulder as his palms rested on her the side of her hips.
The tender yet rough touch and feel of his hands on her body was making her feel things she's never felt before. His proximity was intimidating but she wants more of it at the moment.
"Thank you, Mr Walker. But I never knew that you dance as well, don't you?" Scarlett whispered back as a playful smile came across her beautiful plump lips that were enough to tempt Noel making him wonder how would her lips feel on his ones.
"Oh well surely there's a first time for everything, Ms Adair" He smiled back. Scarlett's blush deepened as her eyes cascade down in diffidence.
"Then I expect you to give your best" She replied making him smirk before he bend to her figure. His lips brushed over her earlobe.
"Trust me, Ms Adair. I'll always give my best if it's you" He whispered. Scarlett tucked her lower lip between her teeth as his deep voice sent chills down her spine. It was intimidating yet it was exciting.
He stood straight to his height back as she swayed her hips under his hold to the sensual music that played in the club. She leaned forward exhaling a delicate breath of satisfaction as his steps matched with hers.
Scarlett's metal bracelet caught his eyes as she trailed her fingers crossed his arm.
This bracelet.
How can he forget it.
It's the thing that made them collide years ago for the very first time.
It's the same thing because of which they crossed paths.
Even though, their first encounter on Ivan Miller's sister's birthday was quite messy. She spilled juice on his shirt and he didn't even get to see her face clearly but the second meet was quite memorable when he returned her bracelet. And since then, they keep crossing paths.
Her long finger stroked the back of his neck as his fingers dug deeper into the delicate flesh of her hips over the fabric of her dress. The fabric over her soft and delicate skin was the only thing that he despised at the moment.
They danced slowly to the languid beats of the music. Their bodies ignite fire each time they'll collide. But none of them backed from it.
Maybe, a languid dance with each other is what they needed after a long shitty day in their lives.
Their bodies moved in synchrony, swaying to the rhythm of the music. Every movement was deliberate, every touch intentional. Scarlett's hips swayed sensually against Noel's, their bodies molded together, fitting perfectly. Their breaths mingled, becoming one as they lost themselves in the dance, in the moment.
Noel's hands trailed down Scarlett's spine, leaving a trail of goosebumps. He held her firmly, yet with a gentle grip, guiding her in their intimate choreography. Scarlett's head tilted back, her hair cascading down her shoulders as Noel's lips found the nape of her neck.
"Uh hh!" A soft whimper escaped her mouth as his lips trailed down. His fingers traced her jawline and Scarlett held on to Noel's arms firmly for support. Her breaths got heavier with each stroke he did on her spine. His lips rubbed against her soft and delicate skin. At the moment he desired nothing but to have her, taste her and devour her.
"You're so delicate, Scarlett" his thick and rough voice crossed through her. His lips hovered over hers as he felt her breaths brushing over them. Noel was losing control, his one hand snaked around her waist pulling her close to himself as their upper body collided. Scarlett's breath hitched.
"I want to taste you" he brushed her lips tenderly with his before pressing them against hers. A chaste kiss was all that occurred before Scarlett's eyes shut opened and the sudden realization hit her like a truck.
Gaining her control back over her needs and emotions, Scarlett pushed Noel with a firm press in his chest. His eyes opened as he stared at her in amusement.
She didn't have the courage to look in his eyes when she already knows what they were demanding.
"I'm sorry. This shouldn't be happening. I'm sorry" was all that she muttered before running away from the dance floor leaving him with a burning heart and unsatisfied desires as he stared at her disappear form for a brief second as if trying to comprehend what had just happened between them.
A kiss.
He kissed her
He felt the touch of her soft, tender lips on his ones.
He felt his heartbeats racing near her.
He felt alive with her.
